UNION CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP
CODE OF EXCELLENCE

The Union Construction Industry Partnership (UCIP) is a labor and management cooperative committee.  The UCIP Code of Excellence is a commitment to safe, productive, and quality construction projects completed on time and within budget through the cooperation of our construction workforce and signatory contractors.  The goal to the UCIP Code of Excellence is to provide construction customers the satisfaction that responsible workers and contractors work together to complete construction project.

Union Partner Commitments:

  • Create a professional, safe, and quality project.
  • Adhere to contractual starting and quitting times.
  • Meet their responsibility to be fit for duty and adhere to the substance abuse policy for the project.
  • Limit break times and lunch periods to times and locations contractually agreed upon.
  • Meet their responsibility by taking care of tools provided by the employer.
  • Meet contractual responsibility to eliminate disruptions on the job.
  • Respect the property of the customer including the elimination of graffiti.
  • Respect the owner, co-workers, and contractor by wearing clothing that reflects the professional traits your union.
  • Utilize the proper training, equipment, and procedures to create a safe worksite.
  • Usage of cell phones will only be done on break periods, lunch, in an emergency, or otherwise allowed.

 

Employer Partner Commitments:

  • Provide professional effective leadership to complete the project on time and within budget.
  • Meet their responsibility to be fit for duty and adhere to the substance abuse policy for the project.
  • Provide required tools for the project.
  • Ensure secure storage is provided for contractor and employee tools.
  • Manage workforce efficiently and professionally so there is neither to many or too few employees on project at one time.
  • Manage materials so the proper type and quantity are available.
  • Take responsibility for all management decisions.
  • Provide employees a place of employment free of recognized hazards.
  • Meet contractual responsibilities to eliminate disruptions on the job.
