Union construction-craft apprentices learn their trades through classroom instruction and on-the-job training – while earning the first-rate wages and benefits that come with being a member of a trade union.
UCIP-member apprenticeship programs are administered by a respective joint apprenticeship and training committee (JATC) and are conducted in state-of-the-art training facilities. Through their JATCs, our members are at the forefront of apprenticeship training, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to ensure the organized construction-labor sector has the safest and most highly qualified workforce in the construction industry.
The apprenticeship programs of UCIP member organizations operate under the standards of the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council.
Safety and Health Training
As a major component of their training, JATC apprentices learn safety both on the job and through Occupational Heath and Safety Administration (OSHA) constuction outreach training programs.
